The Culture of a Displaced Filipino Diaspora

Below is an entry I wrote in 2009, when things were uncertain, the Global Financial crisis spread and hit a part of the middle to low income of Filipino diaspora due to massive job loss, and affected families had to readjust. Looking back, this was an emotional piece written for the displaced families who had to move back to the country that owned them, without the country necessarily knowing them.

Written from the perspective of an outsider, I think this is a valuable contribution to Kulay Natural. I would place this under the theme, culture of the floating diaspora. Two years on, I am now back in the Philippines, and the story goes on. I have a lot of storytelling to do, experiential perspectives to show, and some explaining on what came to be after this entry.

But for now, here is a piece to show the heart and emotion of a person hailing from a culture of diaspora.
